Hate v Hate – Is this the best equation we can get?

Here we are………..facing the death of many men, for the wrongdoing of one. Who says you should fight hate with hate?

The announce of a movie offensing Islam and the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) has already shed  too much blood.

When do people will wake up? When do people will fight with the right weapons? When do people will stop answering violence by violence?

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. ” Martin Luther King Jr

Where is our world going? What is God thinking of all this hate spreading so fast and killing innocent without a feeling of shame?

When do people will realize one man’s ideas do not represent the ideas of a country? When do people will understand religion is not attached to the colour of your skin nor the place you are born in?

“A person is born with feelings of envy and hate. If he gives way to them, they will lead him to violence and crime, and any sense of loyalty and good faith will be abandoned. ” Xun Zi

Muslims are right to defend their religion and the Prophet, but I think this is just not the right answer. Because violence never solved issues. Violence only creates more hatred between people and populations. And after we ask why we can’t all live together in peace.

There will never be peace till people understand the answer to hate is not hate but love. And I am sure it is how the Prophet would have answered to this situation, or the other Prophets. And I can say this is how God would like us to answer too.
“Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.” ― Will Smith
Islam and violence don’t match. Islam is Peace, so why people keep sending the wrong message, creating much fear on the way.
It sometime feels like some people wait for the error to occur to let all the bad things they have inside them go out, to free themselves and hurt others as much as they can.

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it–always.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Could we not try to change the way we are thinking, start to share with others what we believe in, with words that empower and are filled with love?
Could we not start teaching to our children these values, as when people grow they set up their minds on something, have their ideas and don’t want them to change?

“When the days become longer and there is more sunshine, the grass becomes fresh and, consequently, we feel very happy. On the other hand, in autumn, one leaf falls down and another leaf falls down. The beautiful plants become as if dead and we do not feel very happy. Why? I think it is because deep down our human nature likes construction, and does not like destruction. Naturally, every action which is destructive is against human nature. Constructiveness is the human way. Therefore, I think that in terms of basic human feeling, violence is not good. Non-violence is the only way.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama

I know this can sound a bit idealistic but I have the chance to be here, to live in this world, and I have the right to believe humans can change, the world can become a better place. Maybe not for me, but definitely for the generation that will come after. I think it’s my duty to build for them a better future.

“An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” – Mahatma Gandhi

  2. FAB POST! To be honest Marie I have not read an article about the retaliation but I heard from sisters there has been killings and I think it is madness. It is like some of us are falling into a trap to clarify disillusions about muslims. There is nothing wrong with muslims being angry, upset etc but when we just go nuts and start killing and vandalising it just makes us look bad because the actions are bad itself. We have ever right to defend all prophets who are dishonoured but very few are thinking the matter through carefully. I honestly think we humans have a massive problems simply behaving humane. Sign of times.

  3. Violence is not part of Islam. All these rioting must have been incited by some short-sighted so called leaders of the groups.Prophet Mohammad (saw) when asked by the angel Gabriel whether the Prophet would like him to bring down the mountain and crash on the people of one village who were vicious and violent towards the prophet when he tried to spread Islam to them, the prophet's answer was simple “No – these people may not believe me, but their children and children's children may, so let them be.” Now, that is a far sighted leader. So, don't be deceived by what you see on television. In my heart, I know what they try to portray in the movie is not the truth but I do not hate them. They do not know and they are deceived or they may know and try to deceive. Only God knows but it does not incite me to want to kill every American or whatever religion they may belong to.I want peace in the world for only in peace can I and you and our children and our children's children live to their life's purpose.

  7. Thank you for adding these nice lines. I know this is not Islam Asni. What I wanted to say is that people in general, you start to see this in the school yard don't know that violence doesn't end violence, that there is more in life than hate and crimes, that dialogue and listen to each other would be much better.I too wish for peace, but for this to happen, the world has to change. Take care dear.

  8. I totally agree with Muslims, and it is their rights to say they don't like it and defend their religion and Prophet. But it foes too far on both sides. Nobody is really clean. Yesterday a French Newspaper added more oil than needed and by doing this created more tensions around the world. I sometime ask myself are these people adults? Do these people really believe in God?Unfortunately as you say all this makes Muslim people look bad and as we all know more than half of the population makes up her mind on what TV shows. Thanks dear Sanaa. Maybe one day people will understand………maybe.

  11. Great Post Marie! I am so saddened to hear of these vicious stories of retaliation to this film. Yes it is a terrible film and I don't agree with it at all – it was made deliberatly to cause hurt to Muslims! I just wish that the people doing this fighting would focus all their enthusiasm and fight to help the fellow muslims living in poverty and in dire need of support! Priorities are not being followed by these so called Muslims – As you mentioned our Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) would not have wanted this kind of retaliation! I do hope things start to calm down soon, as this behaviour makes the rest of us Muslims look bad people when we are not – Islam means Peace.

  12. Thank you so much Karima. I understand how Muslims feel about it, I too disagree totally with this movie. But as you say I would better like people taking the streets to fight poverty and help their brothers and sisters. All this blood means nothing and is insulting Islam.Take care dear.

  14. wow…what a wonderful post Marie! I totally agree. Violence does not do anything but trouble, and if some Muslims realize what's happening, then we would be wiser. As soon as I heard there was protesting troubles and violence in Egypt and in Libya, my mind thought “oh no, I think you are in the wrong track friends.” I wish some of us could be wiser. I'm not saying we shouldn't defend our religion; of course we should, but leave aside violence and hate. Not all people think the same way , you know. As Hollywood also did a film about Jesus in a disturbing way, of course , I got annoyed too, (but God told us that the prophets were always insulted in such bad ways) but they are just harming themselves, they are not harming God, he is greater than them, more powerful, omnipotent. You see, all this is a plan, because I have to say that we Muslims are always targeted because of a big plan. I have a feeling I know it, not going to say it as it's going to take an essay.. But once again, some of us are not following the way in which the Prophet Muhammad (salalahu alayhi wa salam). He was always insulted by others in such bad ways, but he knew God watches over them, he would only fight back when they would fight, as commanded by God Almighty. He never wanted separation, hate and violence; he always encouraged love and bringing ties together. You see, the world is full of different people, and this is how it's created, in order for God to test us, what do we choose? Most of us want to be superior to the other, so they “tease” their “so called enemies,” because their plan is to make the enemy angry to rise up in the streets and destroy! But, why then? Why should we destroy when God's plan is better? But most of us don't really understand. I can't say my opinions are the best; everyone has the right to have their own opinions. But I must say “We do need wise men. Not children.”

  15. I too feel that there are miscreants who simply wait for a chance to start a riot. No religion teaches hatred and violence. No sane person would commit a crime as huge as killing a fellow human just to showcase their wrath. This will only ensue more hatred amongst the world regarding the already highly mistaken religion. While reading newspaper I always feel, is it that media loves to highlight all that's going wrong or could the world really be burning? But I know for sure that the latter is happening. It's so sad to hear news of one human killing the other just to vent out anger. Why are we becoming so intolerant?

  17. Thank you sweet Dana. Yesterday I read a lovely article that also talk about the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and how he would have reacted to such attacks. Today it is Muslims, but yesterday it was people from other faiths and tomorrow they will find somebody else to attack and hurt. It seems like a non stop search of violence and hatred. You are right we need wise men, the world miss the wise men. Take care dear friend. May we all continue to pray for peace and freedom.

  18. I think it is really the case. There are a handful of men Sui but they send a bad image about millions around. I think media tries to make it worse, that's for sure but still hatred is there and killings, violence are the best money of exchange for some.Glad to read you again dear. Hope you are well. xx
