Golden Bloggerz Award!

Hey there! It’s been a long long time on the Awards Line! So here we go again, thanks to Grace from Grace from the Sun who nominated my blog. She has a way with words that is enchanting to me! Thank you so much for your kind attention Grace!

What is the Golden Bloggerz Award?

The Golden Bloggerz Award was created by Chris Kosto to motivate and reward all the amazing bloggers who work hard every day to serve their audiences and deserve some recognition.

The Rules

  1. Place the award logo on your blog.
  2. Mention the rules.
  3. Mention the award creator and link to their blog.
  4. Thank whomever nominated you and link to their blog.
  5. Tell your audience three things about you.
  6. Answer your nominator’s questions.
  7. Nominate 10 people who deserve this award.
  8. Ask the nominees 5 questions of your choice.
  9. Let the nominees know of their nomination by commenting on their social media or blog.
  10. Share links to 2-3 of your best/favorite posts.

Now 3 things about me:

I came to poetry while I was living in Ireland and I never looked back.
Every time I hear music I just want to dance.
When I am near the sea I feel like I am at home.

My answers to Grace questions:

  • What is the greatest lesson you have learned? That life will send you the same kind of experiences till you’re ready to see what you need to change!
  • What advice would you give to yourself from 10 years ago? Listen to your heart.
  • What is your favorite and least favorite color? Favorite is blue, least favorite is brown.
  • How would you want to be remembered? Like “she brought colors to my life!”
  • What is your favorite quote? “Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky.” Hafiz

Now let’s see who the nominee’s are:

My questions are:

1- When did you start blogging and why?
2- What’s the most precious feeling in life for you?
3- What is the first thing you see in the morning?
4- How would you describe Life to a young child?
5- What means poetry for you?

And to finish, 3 of my favorite posts here:

An invaluable lesson

Face to face

The Lioness bewitched

Enjoy your day!

Back to basics

First of all I own you an apology!

Sorry for all the nonsense, all the here and there, the confusion. You got lost. I got lost too. I wanted something that was not for me. I was looking for some kind of approval, as if writing was not enough, I needed more, I needed recognition in such a way that I took the wrong road.

Till I could not keep going on this road…

When writing this last months, I realized that I missed something, something we got all together, something so precious that I could not keep going without it in my life, I did not want to. It’s the connection, the way we interact with each other, the community we created here. I remembered why I started blogging in the first place.

And I decided it was time to take a break, look around and listen to my inner voice. The decision was mine. I took a road not knowing where I was heading for, I took it for the wrong reasons.

So I am back on this blog full time!

Thanks in advance for your support and fidelity!

Books, friends, fundraising and creation

In September last year I shared with you inspiring projects by fabulous ladies! Don’t get me wrong, some men are doing great things too. But I like to honor the ladies here – no offense!

So, let’s see what’s going on around:

  • Lisa released her New Book – A Divorce Companion (a must read for all people facing divorce, all people recovering from it and even all people touched a way or another by this life-changing experience)
  • Marie (Deep Stones)  is creating wonderful bracelets with semi-precious stones – all made with generosity and kindness. I am in Love with her work.
  • Trish is about to set off on a new journey – a walk of 2,190 mile (Appalachian Trail) to fundraise for Kay’s Kisses “Sharing love, books, and gifts with children recovering from domestic violence”. Go check her website and support her along the way – this is just AWESOME!
  • Another book by Balroop Singh (Allow Yourself to be a better person) – I can tell you only one thing – you’ll love it. Why? Cause she is writing from the heart and nothing can ever be better than this voice inside sharing what counts.
  • My friend in Corsica is raising money for KMG Ethiopia – a charity organization working for Women’s Rights.

Any inspiring project to share with us? I am all for any you have in mind…

Social Media – Love / Hate relationship

Some days, I can spend hours reading amazing blog posts written by fabulous writers, scroll my Facebook and Instagram news feeds, watch great videos and learn new things.

Some other days, I can’t stand this non-ending flow of inforation, words, details, images, status, links to follow, comments to write.

Some days, I feel blessed to be able to connect with many lovely ladies and guys from all over the world – We are sharing so much together.

Some other days, I feel like I’m missing something right here, right now.

Some days, I wish to take in more wisdom, to celebrate life with you, you and you. I feel balanced and at peace. I feel new technologies have a beautiful way to change our lives (for the better).

Some othe days, I turn off all devices. I am looking for less noise around me and in me. I come to believe that all these technologies are pushing me the wrong way. I wish I could live without. I’m about to cancel all my accounts. I am losing my mind.

This is a never ending circle of love and hate relationship. When I catch myself spending a bus trip, my eyes stuck on my phone screen, I am about to scream.

And then I remember – You and I, we created such a special bond through our words. I recieve your love, support, kindness with a smile on my face. Sometime you even write them down on paper and I recieve them with great joy in my letterbox. Magical! Without Internet, We’d have never met. You: Crazy Amazing Beautiful Great Wise Loving friends.

With and without. With the best of it. Without, when I am losing track of my own footsteps on the ground.

Tell me, what is your relationship with blogs and social medias? Are you good at finding the right balance? Did you find it already? Or are you still searching for it?

Cooking with Amira

You know or you may remember that it took me some time to go back to the kitchen, without feeling concerned about how I would perform, whether I would make a good or not-so-good dish.

I can say that now I am perfectly happy when I take all my ingredients out to start a new recipe. I even asked Mister Pop to join. And his answer is often positive!

We put on our aprons and off we go…

2016-05-17_11 46 01_resized

To be true, I always have a hard time following a recipe. I try and then I lose track. And end doing something quite strange!

The first recipe I followed from beginning to end, I found it on Amira’s blog. It was the Harsha Bread one. And it was good. I can clearly see me dancing in my living room with my delicious recipe on a plate. Note that at this time, even though I enjoyed cooking again, I would not try it when others were around. It was a “me” time and a cooking for me alone phase. I needed time, before having enough confidence to cook for others and let the kitchen door open when others were around.

Since this first recipe I kept on trying more and more. What I like about Amira’s cooking, it’s that it’s simple and very well explained. She is even showing how to complete the recipe through a well done video. You can’t go wrong with this!

2016-05-17 11 43 46_resized

I have to add that with every recipe, she is sharing some stories about it. Her North African origins are a great chance for us. When cooking, I can tell Mister Pop where this or that recipe comes from, it’s a good way to get close to his other culture and to develop his taste at the same time. It’s a real travel tour!

Our favorites recipes (approved by little one, mum and grandparents):

Simit Bread

Sweet Couscous

Fatayer with cheese and mint filling

Middle Eastern Spiced tea

And you, tell me, do you love cooking? Whose blog do you follow? What kind of “food” do you like the most? An easy recipe to share with us?

Down memory lane

As I was changing my blog theme and scrolling through old posts, I stopped for a while to think about the beginning of this adventure.

It started with a blog called “The color of our skin”. I wanted to show people that two people from different backgrounds, different skin colors, and different religions could love each other. I thought it was Love. Till I realized it was manipulation and violence.

How can you mix both? How can you take one for the other, when Love is Light and Manipulation is Darkness? How can you be so wrong about somebody? How can you take selfishness for an excess of sensibility?

In between, I got married and travelled to Egypt. I said “Yes” thinking “No” but reassuring myself that after marriage things will get much better, that he will be happy at last. And his happiness will make me a different person. I got good at convincing myself that I was ready for this life, that I was ready for Egypt, that I was ready for solitude.

My blog name changed. I was now “A heart in transit”. I was between two lives: between Egypt and Ireland / between an old version of myself and this “new me” that I was building to face the challenges of my marriage.

How can you change so much to please someone? How can you lose yourself, lose your way, lose your mind? How you can live with so little self-love? How can you accept to be treated like a carpet and think that you just deserve what you get?

One night, I said “no more”. I was five months pregnant and I decided to leave. Leave Ireland. Leave my flat. Leave my friends. Leave my job. Leave my miserable life. In less than 72 hours, I packed one suitcase and with fear attached to every part of my being, I flew back to France.

Just before this, I changed my blog name to “Let It Be”. I was trying my best to stick to the life I had chosen. But it was too hard. Too much silence. Too many harsh words. Too much pain. I was a ghost in my own body, an empty mind. I was still trying to make it work, when everything around was telling me that it was not worth it. Too many lies. Too many threats.

How can you lose track of who you are? How can you change so much that when you look at yourself in the mirror, you see a stranger? How can somebody destroy you? How can you let somebody destroy you?

Back in France. Back to life. Back to who I am, to who I was before all this mess. Back to me, to my roots, to my dreams. Back to my laughs and my joys.

My blog helped me on the crazy road. My readers were there in time of hardships, supporting me with their words and their love. They never let go of my hands. One day, it was time to move on. And I changed my blog name again. It became “Mahshi & Marshmallow”. Two treats / Two parts of my little boy story / Two sides of me.

10 things that make me go wild

I thought I would try something different today, something a bit more fun. I thought I would talk about what I like. And see maybe you’ll like it or not, or we’ll discover that we love the same kind of things and then we’ll know each other a bit better.

When you see me for the first time you may say that I am a classic girl (I don’t have problems with classic girls!). It’s kind of true, except that it’s not entirely true. Obviously when you go to work, you try as much as you can to fit in. Not that I like it much but in my job, it’s this or move on. And right now I can’t move on. Time will come.

Anyway here are the 10 things that make me go wild:

1 – High Knee Boots

I am in love with boots. I bought my first pair of High Knee Boots ten years ago, with my first grown-up salary. Same pair and I can’t live without them, as if they were made for me. There are my favourite of all times

2 – Peace warriors

The ones we know and the silent ones, the ones I see in the street, around me, the anonymous trying to make this world a bit better.

3 – Cards

The ones I send, that I choose carefully and the ones I receive. It’s always a beautiful surprise to open the letterbox and see a beautiful stamp on an envelope. Most of the time I do stop for a while to open it, to read the lines, breath in all the love inside.

4 – My leather blue jacket

Same age as my boots. With a shooting start at the back! When I wear the jacket, I wear blue power. I can do and be everything I want. I am a superstar!

5 – Cheesecakes

You can’t go wrong with cheesecakes. I could eat cheesecakes all day long. I could also cross the city just to buy my favourite one. Let’s spell it, I’m MAD at cheesecakes!

6 – Girlfriends

As Samantha says in Sex & the City, “we are Soulmates” – Oh Yes!

I can’t agree more with this. My girlfriends are making a difference in my life every single day. I would not have made it without them.

7 – Blogging

Did I ever tell you that I am in love with my blog, with your blogs? Now you know. I am in love with words, with your words, with comments, with sharing, with the caring side of it too, with blessings sent across the ocean.

8 – Gospel songs & prayers

When we go to mass here, it feels depressing (not all the time, but most of the time). When I listen to Gospel, I feel the power of God inside me, I feel God talking to me. I feel blessed and serene. I feel like everything is possible. I feel like embracing life, receiving much love and sending more out to the world.

9 – Dancing

I love dancing. Every time I hear a song I feel like moving my body. I did ballet when I was a kid. And then Modern Jazz, Flamenco, Bellydance, Hip-Hop. Dancing is a great way to express myself, to let go of everything that does not serve me. When I am dancing, I feel free.

12fb7d0e865f905c63e3bdff7d255764_resized10 – Hugs

My little one hugs are the best!

I am not a kisses person. But hugs, it is so good. There is energy moving from one body to another. Look at the “free hugs” initiatives all around the world. It works. Hugs make wonders!

Now tell me what makes you go wild?

The Best Blogs on the Rocks – The Rocking Stars!

Maybe it’s time to finish the story.

So after talking about:

  • The Faithful Butterflies
  • The Family Trees
  • The Funky Travellers
  • The Writing Bees

It’s time to tell you a bit more about the Rocking Stars. Get ready cause it will shake you to the core of your being.

If I had to choose one woman whose writing changed my life, I’d choose her:

Kim from my Inner Chick

Ok, if you’ve never been over at her blog, you did miss something. So please go and read. I bet you’ll stay over there for a while. She just rocks. Her voice is changing many lives EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Raw. Deep. Maybe these are the best words to describe her writing. Everything she says is coming from inside, from her guts. I bet you’ll be like me the first time and think how this is possible, how can you heal from such a shocking disaster, how can you walk without this precious hand into yours, the hand of the person who meant the world to you.

Kind heart. Beautiful soul.

She is also raising her voice for Domestic Abuse, which still kills and imprisons women (and men) – too many – around the world today.

Kim, I love you up to the moon and back!

Time to introduce you to another great lady:

Jennifer Burden, founder of World Moms Blog

What an idea to create this space where women and mums could connect and share their stories!

You can find solace, help, advices. It’s so important cause when you become a mother, you don’t really know what’s coming next. It can as fabulous as it can be tough. Nothing prepares you to it. And knowing that other women around the world are so close can really save your life!

Now up to:

Lisa blogging at The Great Escape

Her blog is mostly about divorce. She’s been through it and she is glad to share and help others to deal with it. Cause it’s a big change in someone’s life. Lisa has a way to make you feel at ease when you visit her. No judgement. Only love. And this is this love that makes us feel worth it. Cause before, during or after a divorce, it can be hard to see the best in us. We are more tempted by guilt and something like safe-hatred.

Lisa also deal with other subjects in a meaningful and sometime funny way!

Lisa, one last word, can’t wait to hold your last book in my hands! Go for it girl!

I’ll end with:

Chris blogging at the Mom Café

Why it feels so good to read her?

Because of her honesty, truth, for the way she handles things with care, love. Reading her is like being at the coffee shop in front of a close friend, and chatting about life, its joys, its pains, its doubts, its shocking reality sometime, its fabulous emotions too, about our kids, our girlfriends, our busy life and our dreams.

Thanks all for being there, for making the world a beautiful place! Never change and always remember that you are Rocking Stars!
